Ronald Bog (E4)

Named after Judge James Ronald, an early Shoreline philanthropist and Seattle mayor, Ronald Bog was historically a peat bog wetland.  In the 1950s it was mined for its peat, forming the square shape that the pond fills today.  With more impervious surfaces in Shoreline today, and less wetlands to absorb the impact of large rainstorms, flooding is an increasing issue at the headwaters of Thornton Creek’s north fork.
