NSCC Wetlands (E1)

Wetlands in the Thornton Creek watershed provide many important ecosystem functions.  Wetlands filter pollutants, reduce flooding after a storm by holding water, and provide habitat and landscape diversity.  In 1998 North Seattle Community College restored the wetlands on its campus which lies at the headwaters of Thornton Creek’s south fork.  The NSCC wetlands are now a living laboratory for the college and a great urban wildlife watching spot.
