Water and Community GIS ProgramA generous grant from the Russell Family Foundation has enabled Homewaters Project to create a GIS mapping module for middle school students. With collaboration from Homewaters’ Technology Team and the UW School of Geography, the module helps middle school students understand how human land use affects water resources. Teachers are trained in GIS usage, as well as how to navigate the module, so they can continue the module in the future. More Than MappingHomewaters teaches students skills used by professionals around to the world as part of our programs. Water and Community uses ArcView, a Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, created by Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), to investigate watershed issues in Seattle. The software is donated by ESRI for our use in schools. Check out the ESRI website. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
