Teacher Testimonial

What teachers have said:

“The field experiences led by Homewaters tied the real world to my kids' classroom learning, helping them put it all together! This depth of understanding was essential to their success on the science WASL.”

- Lisa Calvert, Teacher at McGilvra Elementary, November 2004

Land and Water Field Program

The Land and Water Field Program is a partnership between Seattle Public Schools, Seattle Public Utilities, Seattle Parks Department and Homewaters Project.

These field experiences help 4th-5th grade students make real world connections of concepts learned in the classroom-based Land and Water Science Unit to local urban streams. Examples of concepts students explore in the field are: the relationship between moving water and soils, runoff, human impacts on urban streams, salmon, wildlife habitat. Homewaters Project’s program takes place in Thornton Creek in the Meadowbrook neighborhood.
