Community EducationHomewaters Project's outreach program connects people in the Seattle area to their home place in a variety of ways - street fairs, events, naturalist programs, and presentations to community groups. For those life-long learners, take a look at some of our current programs.
Living With BeaversWe team up with Seattle Parks and Recreation and Seattle Public Utilties to introduce people in the Thornton Creek Watershed to their neighbors, the beaver. Fun for the whole family, this evening program focuses on beaver behavior, biology, and strategies to live with our industrious urban wildlife. Living With Beavers takes place at Meadowbrook Pond where several resident beavers always come out to say "Hi." Community Outreach EventsWhenever possible, Homewaters hits the streets and introduces our organization, and our mission, to neighborhoods throughout the Seattle area. This is a great opportunity for us to learn about the various watershed issues throughout the city, and also share what we can on how everyone can be a steward of their home place. We're also happy to come to your organization, business, or agency to share our passion about connecting people to place in short presentations. Public PresentationsWe are lucky to have engaging and knowledgeable friends concerned about the health of their community. Throughout the year, Homewaters connects these experts to the public through book readings, lectures, and other avenues.
