Explore Thornton Creek this Saturday

Thornton Creek Long Walk, THIS Saturday, September 22, 8:30 am-2 pm: Discover natural and cultural surprises around every bend as you follow the route of Thornton Creek's South Fork from Northgate to Matthews Beach Park. See a giant boulder dropped by a glacier and large woody debris dropped by restoration teams to recreate salmon habitat. Space is limited, so sign up for this free 5 1/2-mile hike by contacting Jennifer Youngman (206.526.0187).

Join Homewaters' new Home Team!

New monthly giving program: You're invited to become a member of the Home Team, a monthly giving program that allows you to help urban youngsters like these discover the fascination of the natural world around them. A recent Washington State study showed that “students in schools using environmental education consistently score higher on standardized tests than students in schools without environmental education.” Monthly giving saves time for you and Homewaters, and helps your gifts go even further. For you, Homewaters and these children, that makes a win-win-win! Contact Chris Page (206.529.6040) for more info.

Meet our new Outreach Coordinator

New staff member: Outreach Coordinator Jennifer Youngman looks forward to keeping you informed about Homewaters programs and all the ways you might enjoy being involved. Her experience includes marketing and outreach, environmental education and native rare plant conservation. Jennifer has served as a ranger at Mt. Rainier and two other national parks, and she's a published writer, photographer and puzzlemaker. She's excited about combining aspects from all of these in her work with Homewaters.
