Students take a close look at microorganisms: In October, fifth graders walked from their school to collect water samples, sketch the student sketchinghabitat around them, and identify human impacts at Union Bay Natural Area in Seattle. To see students in action, visit our Tiny Neighbors web page and click on the images to start a short slideshow.

Meet our new Education Specialist

Welcome aboard, Kate! Education Specialist Kate Bedient joined the Homewaters staff in September just after we sent the last Meanderings. Already she has conducted Tiny Neighbors programs at Union Bay, Green Lake and Matthews Beach, and helped Shorewood High School students survey vegetation in Shoreview Park. This week she's reworking one of our GIS lesson plans to be published in a book. Learn more about Kate.
