New Board Members!

Homewaters Project is please to announce that Sarah Eskenazi and Paul Sorensen have joined our Board of Directors. You may recognize Sarah from her involvement in our Know Your Homewaters Spring Party or her time as a Land and Water volunteer. Paul brings his experience from the Portico Group to our board. Welcome Sarah and Paul, and thanks for your involvement!


Internship Opportunity:
Homewaters Education Program Associate

Homewaters is hiring a program intern to assist with the delivery, development, and coordination of our watershed ecology and community mapping programs. Interested applicants should download the description here. Deadline for applications is THIS FRIDAY, 11/10/06.

Outreach and Mapping Coordinator

Homewaters Project is hiring for our Outreach and Mapping Coordinator. We encourage well-rounded individuals to apply for this position, responsible for all media communications, community education programs, and our community mapping programs. Contact Chris Page (206.529.6040)to learn more about the position and application process.


Opportunities for Teachers

Tiny Neighbors: If you are a Seattle teacher, use the Microworlds science unit, and would like to do a field extension with your students this year, consider attending a three hour teacher training at the end of January for the Tiny Neighbors field program. Contact Linda Versage (206.529.6045) for more information or to be notified about the workshop.

Land and Water KidsLand and Water: Land and Water field programs for Seattle 4th/5th grades occur from March to June and Homewaters begins scheduling in January. These programs are popular and fill up quickly! If you are a Seattle 4th/5th grade teacher whose school is in or near the Thornton Creek Watershed and you’d like your students to extend their learning from the Land and Water science unit into the field, contact Linda Versage (206.529.6045) as soon as possible. She will add your name to a list so you'll receive updates and notification as soon as scheduling begins.


Volunteer Opportunities

Classroom GIS Assistants: Homewaters invites students, aspiring teachers, and GIS professionals to assist with our Water and Community GIS program this winter. Volunteers provide classroom support between December and February. Contact Todd Burley (206.526.0187) for more information.

Garden Education and Maintenance (GEM) Team: During this academic year, Homewaters will train a small group to assist schools that have previously participated in our Watershed Gardens program to help ensure the native plant gardens continue to successfully thrive for students and wildlife. Volunteers will help teachers and students with garden maintenance. If you are available mid-week and this interests you, contact Linda Versage (206.529.6045).
