We walk the talk...actually, bike the talk

75% of our staff signed up for the Green Bike Project... and the only reason the other 25% didn't is because she already walks and bikes to work. King County Metro's Green Bike Project is designed to encourage new bicycle commuters. We've pledged to reduce our drive-alone commutes by at least 60% between August 2008 and May 2009. North Seattle Community College (Homewaters' home base) is one of the employers partnering with King County Metro, Cascade Bicycle Club, REI and Washington State to help us go gently through our watershed.

Name a Thornton Creek park

Park #1, #2, #6 - the days of struggling to remember which is which will soon be over. Got any good ideas for names that celebrate the cultural or natural history of these preserved spaces along the North and South Forks of Thornton Creek? Send us your ideas for names and we'll pass them along.

Do we know how to pick 'em!

Remember David R. Montgomery, author of Dirt: The Erosion of Civilizations? Dave presented a dynamic book reading last January for Homewaters Project. Turns out he's won a $500,000 genius grant from the MacArthur Foundation. (Stay tuned for news of our next thought-provoking event -- it may just be The Next Big Thing!)
