North Seattle Community College
Please join Homewaters' staff, Board, and your neighbors on the inaugural "Walk For Education," a joint fundraiser for Homewaters Project and the NSCC Education Fund. Each participant will accompany an experienced naturalist for a fun and informative narrated 2-3 mile walk along Thornton Creek's lush south fork. Homewaters and the NSCC Ed Fund will provide coffee beforehand and a BBQ lunch afterward.
Homewaters is creating a team of 10 people who will each raise $10-$100 in sponsorship from their friends and family in support of our mission and the Ed Fund's scholarships for low income community college students. Think of the collective impact! If you'd like to register, contact our office by October 6th at 206.526.0187 or download the registration packet.

Space is limited, so reservations are required.
Opportunities for Teachers
Tiny Neighbors: If you are a Seattle teacher, use the Microworlds science unit, and would like to do a field extension with your students this year, consider attending a three hour teacher training at the end of January for the Tiny Neighbors field program. Contact Linda Versage for more info or to be notified about the workshop at 206.529.6045.
Land and Water: Land and Water field programs for Seattle 4th/5th grades will take place from March to June and we begin scheduling in January. These programs are popular and fill up quickly! If you are a Seattle 4th/5th grade teacher whose school is in or near the Thornton Creek Watershed and you’d like your students to extend their learning from the Land and Water science unit into the field, contact Linda Versage at 206.529.6045 as soon as possible. She will add your name to a list so you'll receive updates and notification as soon as scheduling begins.
Volunteer Opportunities
Classroom GIS Assistants: Homewaters invites students, aspiring teachers, and GIS professionals to assist with our Water and Community GIS program this winter. Volunteer training will be in November with classroom support between December and February. Contact Todd Burley at 206.526.0187 for more information.
Garden Education and Maintenance (GEM) Team: During this academic year, Homewaters will train a small group to assist schools that have previously participated in our Watershed Gardens program to help ensure the native plant gardens continue to successfully thrive for students and wildlife. Volunteers will help teachers and students with garden maintenance. If you are available mid-week and this interests you, contact Linda Versage at 206.529.6045.
